Retailers selling leather products showcase leather items ranging from leather suitcases, cabin bags, beauty cases, briefcases, laptop cases and durable non-tear backpacks and travel accessories.

Leather is both durable and flexible and can be produced from the skin of animals and reptiles, by a chemical tanning process. Leather is most commonly made from cow skin, with sheep, pig and deer skin common for more expensive apparel and personal accessories. Exotic skins such as ostrich, eel, snake and crocodile are also used to create both practical and luxury items. Leather shoes and footwear are most commonly sold in conjunction with other forms of footwear, but may also be manufactured and retailed as handmade, often bespoke, products from specialist shoemakers. Speciality manufacturers and retailers often promote widely via internet and other online and social media, so as to reach as wide an audience of potential customers as possible.
