Daylesford is a town in the Shire of Hepburn, Victoria. It’s located at the foot of the Great Dividing Range, and has a population of more than 2,500.
History
Early European settlement in Daylesford was primarily pastoral. In 1851, the discovery of gold quickly led to a township quickly springing up. It was first named Wombat, but later became Daylesford. When the gold ran out, Daylesford began to reinvent itself as a spa town. Despite a brief lull during the Great Depression, it remains popular with tourists to this day.

These include Shizuka Ryokan, Salus Spa, Daylesford Day Spa, and Peppers Mineral Springs Retreat. Daylesford offers many gourmet eating options, and the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens are a joy to behold. The surrounding wilderness is also great for hiking.
