How to manage occupational health and safety

Minimise OHS risks at the workplace by considering the below guidelines on safety.

  • Consider some typical risks involved with your building and its contents. What is flammable? What is your building made of? Which way do the doors open?
  • Identify potential hazards and the level of risk they pose.
  • Put in place an OHS management plan with a qualified OHS consultant for various levels of risk. Have an evacuation plan and conduct regular evacuation drills.
  • Have someone in charge of fire safety. Ensure workers and family members know where firefighting equipment is stored and how to use it. Regularly check your fire-fighting equipment.
  • You can obtain occupational health services and OHS training from businesses in our directory.
  • Encourage workers to consider personal safety equipment and make sure they are aware of their rights to refuse work in unsafe environments.
