Safety advice on operating elevated work platforms (EWPs)

Consider these tips to prevent accidents while operating an EWP on a job site:

Read, understand and follow all worksite and employer safety rules as well as any applicable local, governmental or provincial regulations before operating the EWP.
Wear proper fall protection. For example, if you have gone in for boom lift hire, you need two harnesses to reduce the chances of being catapulted from the platform of a boom.
Don’t sit, stand or climb on the platform guardrails. Always maintain a firm footing on the platform floor. Also, avoid exiting an elevated boom or scissor lift platform unless properly trained to do so.
Remove anything from the platform that is not required. Items, such as scrap materials, buckets and large tool boxes can cause a serious tripping hazard.
