I was attended by Tania at the Port Macquarie store this evening not long before closing time. She is a very helpful lady and her smiling friendly manner was much appreciated. She is a credit to your store! Thank you Tania! Margaret Wilkins Perth Wa Petbarn club member.

Handy tips

Water is the essence of wetness, but what if my fish Aquarium needs more oxygen?

Here at Yellow we aim to support all Mermen, and Merwomen. We have compiled a handy list of tips and tricks to keep your aquarium in ship shape condition.

  • It is important to keep your fish aquarium well oxygenated. Water movement at the surface of your tanks is vital for oxygen exchange. A filter can go a long way to providing your aquatic life with the oxygen it needs to survive and thrive.
  • Tank water can become toxic to your aquatic friends if your filter is not powerful enough, if your aquarium is too small, or if food has become stuck and begun to decompose.
  • To avoid these dramas ensure you are changing water regularly, and have adequate aquarium accessories to keep your water fresh.
  • Signs your aquarium is not getting enough oxygenation may include fish swimming close to the surface of the tank, gulping air from the surface, algae buildup and cloudy water.
  • When customising your aquarium, oxygen should be a top consideration. Factors affecting O2 levels are water temperature, number of fish competing for oxygen, and the amount of surface area available at the top of the tank of oxygen exchange
