Since gaining a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia, Henry has devoted his professional life to the science and art of implant and prosthetic dentistry; including dental cosmetics, bone grafting and sinus augmentation. His extensive, worldwide post graduate education continually exceeds the state's requirements. Henry is currently completing a Masters degree in Oral Implantology (Goethe University Frankfurt)

Sedation dentistry, also called sleep dentistry or twilight sleep dentistry, is the use of IV (intravenous) sedation drugs to induce a deeply-relaxed state during long or complex procedures. Although you remain conscious of what is happening, you won't actually be bothered by anything! Despite the name "sleep dentistry", you are not actually put to sleep. You will be able to respond to requests made by the dentist. IV sedation is not general anaesthesia.
If you only have a mild apprehension of needles or dental procedures, an alternative to IV sedation could be inhalation sedation. This is achieved by breathing in nitrous oxide gas (laughing gas) during the procedure.
