The NDIS is a program in Australia, funded by the government, that provides support for people with disability. A provider is a registered organisation or individual who provides services or products to people with disability who receive funding from the NDIS. A NDIS provider can be a allied health therapist (e.g. physiotherapist), support worker, social worker, psychologist, medical professional, or a disability support organisation.
How long NDIS support lasts for depends on the individual circumstances of the participant. Typically, the support is ongoing to meet the needs of people with permanent and significant disabilities. When a participant is approved for NDIS support, they will work with a NDIS planner to develop a plan that outlines the support they require. The plan is reviewed and updated regularly to ensure that it continues to meet the participant’s changing needs and goals.
Staying on top of all your NDIS services can be difficult, especially if you have complex needs and are accessing different supports from a wide range of providers. This is where support coordination and plan management services can help. A support coordinator and plan manager provide two different types of services under the NDIS, but both can help you understand and implement your NDIS plan, so you can access the right type and amount of supports for your needs.
