Newcomb is a residential suburb in Victoria. It’s located 3km from Geelong’s central business district and has a population of 4,518. Nearby suburbs include Thomson, Whittington, Corio Bay and East Geelong.

History

The Post Office opened on 2 July 1962 as the suburb developed.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has two shopping centres – Newcomb Centro and Bellarine Village. Both include a Woolworths supermarket, cafes, hairdressers and speciality stores. The Bellarine Highway runs through the town. They have their own AFL team that competes in the Bellarine Football League.

The suburb is made up of 20th Century homes. Due to surrounding developments, there is no room for new housing estates. However, there is a growing trend of subdividing larger blocks to build flats. This would mean existing houses have to be demolished or have new houses built behind them.
