Depending on your injury or problem the physiotherapist may need to watch you play or train to fully diagnose and treat the issue. The physiotherapist can also work with your team and provide trackside support or other services which may give you the edge over the competition.
The Australian Physiotherapy Association awards Physiotherapists who have extensive experience in treating sporting injuries at an elite level and a post graduate Masters Qualification in Sports Physiotherapy the Title of Sports Physiotherapist.
A referral is not needed to see a Sports Physiotherapist. All you have to do is make an appointment.
This will vary depending on your injury and what attention it requires. You can expect an initial consultation to run for 45 minute to one hour and a standard consultation to run from half an hour to forty five minutes.

Recovery is a team effort. Your physiotherapist will outline how your recovery and return to sport will progress and provide you with activities to complete. The amount and kind of patient contribution to rehabilitation will vary from injury to injury.
