At Excel Sports Medicine we have a passion for preventing and treating sporting injuries and enjoy the challenges of returning athletes of all abilities back to the field quickly and safely.   • Are you able to claim from health funds electronically at the clinic?

    Yes, the clinic is HICAPS equipped so most health funds are able to process claims at the time of appointment.

  • Does the physiotherapist come to training and games?

    Depending on your injury or problem the physiotherapist may need to watch you play or train to fully diagnose and treat the issue. The physiotherapist can also work with your team and provide trackside support or other services which may give you the edge over the competition.

  • How is a sports physiotherapist different to other physiotherapists'?

    The Australian Physiotherapy Association awards Physiotherapists who have extensive experience in treating sporting injuries at an elite level and a post graduate Masters Qualification in Sports Physiotherapy the Title of Sports Physiotherapist.

  • Do I need a referral to make an appointment at Excel Sports Medicine?

    A referral is not needed to see a Sports Physiotherapist. All you have to do is make an appointment.

  • How long does an appointment take?

    This will vary depending on your injury and what attention it requires. You can expect an initial consultation to run for 45 minute to one hour and a standard consultation to run from half an hour to forty five minutes.

  • Does my private health insurance cover this service?

    If you have private health insurance with extras cover you will receive a rebate.

  • What can I expect at the first consultation?

    Assessment, involving an interview and hands on testing of your injured area. A diagnosis and prognosis. Goals, expectations and time frames will be outlined as well as how many sessions you may require and what you can do to progress your rehabilitation. Treatment may involve massage, exercises, Clinical Pilates, joint mobilisation ect.

  • What will I have to do?

    Recovery is a team effort. Your physiotherapist will outline how your recovery and return to sport will progress and provide you with activities to complete. The amount and kind of patient contribution to rehabilitation will vary from injury to injury.
