Satellite Black Spot Endorsed Installer:

  • The VAST system is a government subsidised free to air digital television service for black spot areas. Ian Glen Television Services is a government authorised installer and repair agent for the VAST system and will make sure you receive quality television wherever you live
  • We can install the equipment to provide you with perfect pictures after the analogue system is turned off if you live in a fringe or poor signal area
  • We install satellite TV for RVs, campervans, caravans & motorhomes

Commercial Services:

  • We manufacture our own mounting brackets, mounting systems and custom build systems for each client. This way you can always be sure of the quality you are receiving
  • Providing installations and repairs for commercial customers. We can install MATV systems for offices, hotels, hospitals and more
  • We only use high quality (cyclone rated) roof mountings for our installations, which include Fracarro antennas made in Italy and Kingray signal amplifiers made in Australia

Domestic Services:

  • We specialise in the installation of digital television antennas
  • We also install TV and sound systems
  • We use the most up to date test equipment to find the best location on your property to receive the clearest digital television signals. Digital signals are like electricity: you can’t see them. That is why we rely on accurate testing equipment to measure the strength and quality of these signals for both free-to-air and satellite digital television

FAQs

  • Why did my analogue antenna work fine then suddenly stop and the pictures start to break up?

It may be a physical problem where corrosion has eaten away at the cable attachment terminals, or it may not be suitable to receive the new digital frequencies in your area.

  • Do I need to change the cable to my antenna?

The minimum requirement for digital signal distribution requires the coaxial cable to have four shields around the centre conductor. Older cables had one shield. To get the best quality signal and to remain robust through all conditions, the old cables need to be replaced with quad shield cable.

  • Can large trees which have grown up over the last few years damage my television signal?

Absolutely. Thick foliage trees will completely stop satellite signals getting through to the receiver and will greatly reduce the amount of digital television terrestrial signals causing your pictures to pixelate and break up.

  • What if I don't have enough signal at my property to receive a satisfactory television signal?

If you live in a remote area and we are unable to receive a satisfactory television signal, then you can apply to use the VAST system provided by the government for people living in remote areas.

  • Do I have to pay for VAST system if I live in a remote area?

Once you have applied for access to the VAST system, the only expense is the installation of the satellite dish, cables and a satellite digital decoder. There are no ongoing costs for VAST after you have completed your initial set up.

  • How much does it cost to install the VAST system into my home?

Cost depends on location and construction of the building. Every property is different. An average property with an installation providing the signal to one television usually falls between $750.00 and $900.00 depending on the distance to your location.

  • Why are my pictures fine through the day, then break up around dinner time and evening?

There is a lot more electronics noise floating around and damaging the signals around dinner time, with microwave ovens, etc. but the real problem is that your received signals are not strong enough, or clean enough to cope with the added burden of atmospheric noise.

  • Who should I get to tell me what’s wrong with my system and who should repair it?

Only accept the services of a qualified digital television reception service technician. They have the latest testing equipment which allows them to measure the quality (BER) of the signals. Without this information, it is impossible to correctly evaluate any problem to do with digital television signal.

  • Are you able to travel to the country areas?

We recognise that many of the television reception issues are in fringe & country areas & the problems are unable to be rectified unless skilled technicians are prepared to travel & work in the country areas. We are happy to travel for domestic television issues anywhere in the state as long as the customer is happy to pay for our fuel costs & travel time. We are happy to travel anywhere across Australia for commercial issues as long as the customer is happy to pay for our time & travel costs.

  • I am in a rental property and the television signals keep breaking up. What can I do?

Firstly, you must get in touch with the real estate or landlord and let them know that there is a problem. If the tenant is a full pension card holder, then by law, the landlord is obliged to provide the tenant with a reliable and robust digital television signal to a minimum of one set. If you don't hold a full pension card and your landlord refuses to rectify the problem, you can install the equipment at your expense.
