In the past, old floors were usually finished with Black Japan around the edges of floors. During the sanding process, every endeavour is made to remove traces of the black stain but in some instances, there may be some slight visual discolouration.
Timber floors are renewable and recyclable. Bacteria, dust and dirt do not embed themselves in wooden flooring, unlike other flooring options. Tests have proven that wooden flooring provides a healthier environment for allergy sufferers.
Yes, the machines are rather loud. Our staff wear protective hearing aids so it is advisable for the client to be away from the premises while sanding is being undertaken.
Our machines are virtually dust free. The only dust discharge is 2mg per cm. We undertake thorough cleaning after the sanding process.
The procedure is to fill the gaps using clean fine sawdust from your floor, which is mixed with filler or flexible filler, e.g. Sikaflex that is available in different colours.
Yes, staining a floor a different colour is possible. The stain is added to the final coating finish to give the colour desired or alternatively, stain can be applied neat to bare floorboards after sanding has been completed. The appropriate clear finish is then applied.
It is preferable to have any plumbing, plastering or electrical work undertaken prior to having your floor sanded to prevent contamination from silicone, dust etc.
