Oral Armour Mouthguard:

Each mouthguard is individually moulded to fit the mouth of the person for whom it is made. It is made from heavy duty vinyl, and is designed to reduce impact and lessen the chance of chipped or broken teeth, particularly when playing sports. We recommend mouthguards for sports men and women of all ages (particularly children), and suggest that they should be worn at all times while playing and training.

Dentures:

Artificial teeth are not as good as natural teeth, but with proper care and attention they can be almost as good. Some patients are much happier with the appearance of their new dentures than they were with their natural teeth. It is up to you, the denture-wearer, to make sure your dentures are the best fit possible and are in the best condition. In time, you will overcome these difficulties and adjust to your new dentures.

FAQs

  • How long will my dentures last?

Generally, dentures need to be adjusted or replaced every four or five years. Dentures are gradually worn away by repeated cleaning. The soft supporting mouth tissues are also changing shape continually. Even though your dentures may feel perfectly comfortable, their fit needs to be checked regularly to ensure that no lasting damage is done.

  • How do I care for my partial dentures?

Partial dentures need more attention than full dentures, as the fit, care and hygiene of these dentures has an effect on the preservation of remaining natural teeth because partial dentures may trap food, which in turn can lead to tooth decay, you should remove denture after eating and thoroughly clean both the denture and your own teeth. If a partial denture does not fit well it may severely damage your gums which support your natural teeth.

  • How do I care for my dentures?

We take care to provide dentures which will be ‘problem free’. Any irritation which occasionally may be caused by new dentures can be overcome with adjustments. Most problems are minor, although they may not feel that way in your mouth. Don’t let your mouth become sore before having an adjustment made. Please call if you believe an adjustment is necessary. Sore spots or lumps discovered in the mouth should always be examined by a professional immediately.

  • How do I clean my dentures?

To clean dentures, we recommend a very soft brush and soap. A hard toothbrush and toothpaste is too abrasive for your dentures, and should never be used. A tip for cleaning dentures is to partly fill the hand basin with water and place a face flannel in the bottom. If dentures are dropped, the water and cloth will absorb most of the impact.

  • Can I claim on my private health insurance?

As nationally recognised health providers, each of our practitioners qualifies to use prescribed item numbers identified by private health funds. The level of rebate is dependent on the type and extent of ancillary cover. New electronic claims facilities are available through HICAPS (Health Industry Claims And Payment Scheme). Present your magnetic health fund card for speedy on the spot claims.

  • What is a dental prosthetist?

We are a registered dental prosthetic practitioners. You may have been more familiar with our former professional name dental mechanic. As a health care professional, the fees of the dental prosthetist are normally subject to private health insurance rebate, depending on the extent of ancillary benefit cover.

  • What method of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, cheques, EFTPOS and HICAPS (Health Industry Claims And Payment Scheme).
