Dr Gartlan was raised and educated in Hobart graduating from the University of Tasmania Medical School. Following two years in New South Wales and Queensland hospitals he worked in General Practice in Southern Tasmania. Dr Gartlan completed Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Royal Hobart Hospital with other clinical work at the Launceston General Hospital and the North West Regional Hospital.
Dr Gartlan delivers at both the Hobart Private Hospital and Calvary Hospital. Obstetric services are offered in:
An ultrasound will be performed at visits with your consent. A detailed ultrasound scan will be arranged for 18-20 weeks gestation. We like to see you early in your pregnancy. Dr Gartlan will explain and discuss with you any pregnancy monitoring and testing required.

A referral from your general practitioner is required. This will last for a twelve month period. If a referral is made by a specialist it is only valid for three months. Please ask your referring doctor to fax a copy of the referral letter to the rooms before your first appointment.
