FAQs
Our dedicated team is proud to service the Hobart region. Our trained technicians have over 25 years experience in the industry and our customer service is second to none. As local professionals we have no affiliation with a franchise, therefore we can guarantee that our prices are extremely competitive. There is no franchisor to be paid and so our overheads are lower which means we can pass the savings on to our customers. Our process evolves as technology improves.
We follow the Australian Standard AS/NZ 3733-1995 and do not use chemicals containing optical brighteners which are used to artificially brighten carpet to give the appearance of being clean. Carpets are considered an investment to the person or company, if they are not maintained correctly it may become more of an expense when you have to replace the carpets prematurely. A1 know that there is no one size fits all and we do whatever it takes to get your carpet & upholstery as clean as possible.
Our goal is simple, to make it look good, feel great, keep it odour free and as sanitary as possible and most of all assist in getting a long life from your investment. We understand that times are tough and it is all too common for customers not to get value for money. A1 technicians are trustworthy, experienced, professionals who understand what it takes to provide top quality service to our customers. We guarantee to beat any nationally advertised carpet & upholstery specials by 10%.

No, dirt is abrasive! Dirt works similar to sandpaper, every time you walk on your carpets you grind dirt into the fibres, which then cuts the fibres and causes the carpet to wear out sooner than it should. Dirty carpet simply will not last as long as clean carpet, & while a regular vacuum program helps, vacuuming alone is not enough to remove the dirt deep down in the fibres. The longer you wait before cleaning your carpet the more damage you do to it and the faster it will wear out.
No, outdoor air contains pollen's fungus, bacteria, air pollution, car fumes, and hundreds of chemicals. When you or someone else enters your home, all those pollens, bacteria, chemicals and pollutants come in with you on your skin, clothes, hair and shoes. All those chemicals, pollens and other pollutants and bacteria end up in your carpets.
No, an honest carpet cleaner will tell you that some stains cannot be removed (this all depends on what they are & what type of carpet you have), so do not fooled when you hear the cheap carpet cleaners say that they can get any stain out. It is simply not true, this is nothing more than a tactic to get you to book the job with them so that they can upsell you later and get more money out of you. Do not fall for cheap tricks such as this.
Yes. If you reside in a recognised aged care facility or you live in a small unit - A1 guarantee the most you will pay for carpet cleaning is $100 and $160 for 5 seats of upholstery. Our prices include many of the extras that our competitors add to the price. A1 consider that pensioners deserve a break and we can do our little bit by providing this service to them.
The carpet can be pre-treated with various chemicals and then hot water, under high pressure, is forced into the carpet and then sucked out by a strong vacuum. The process is also referred to as steam cleaning although steam is not actually what is used, just hot water and chemical. One of the world's largest carpet manufactures only recommend having your carpets cleaned by way of hot water extraction method. If you have wool carpet, the preferred method of cleaning is steam cleaning.
No, it is impossible to remove all dust mites. All we can hope for is to keep the population low so as to reduce the amount of faecal matter that we could breathe in. The dust mites themselves are not the problem; it is the excrement they produce in large amounts. Dust mites are an important part of the ecology as they feed on the dead skin flakes that we are constantly shedding. Treatments remove the dust mites and their faeces thereby reducing the allergen risk to allergy sufferers.
Your carpets are probably the third or fourth most expensive item you own apart from your home and cars. So don't just get anybody to clean them, a lot of people forget this and by then they may have employed a cheap carpet cleaner and it may already be too late, damage may have already been done. Make sure you employ a carpet cleaner that is fully certificate trained and check out their reputation. Social networking is a great tool to report the shonky work done by the untrained.
Before making the choice, take into account whether they are a franchised operation or an independent operator. Franchises will have additional costs which involve franchise fees and other expenses which must be paid to a franchisor. Many franchised operations have their headquarters based interstate or worse overseas which means that most, if not all the money you pay will leave the state. Independent operators will not have these costs and therefore they can generally offer a better price.
No. We tend to endure much warmer temperatures in the house during cold weather than we do when the weather is warm. Many homes in Tasmania either have wood fires or heat pumps and therefore the carpet can dry quicker in winter. Winter is a great time to get carpets cleaned as there is usually no problem getting an appointment and carpet cleaners tend to run specials.
This is a difficult question to answer given that every home is different. In winter, it is advisable to assist with drying by turning on heating or if the weather allows, opening windows or turning on ceiling fans to aid evaporation. In summer, the weather usually allows for opening of windows and doors to allow a good airflow to aid the drying process. A1 will attempt to get the carpet as dry as possible and therefore it usually takes around 2 hours to dry.
