Generally a grey or black rectangular box located on the top of the pump. This turns the pump on and off as the water pressure drops or rises. An electronic pump controlling switch that turns the pump on and off with the flow of water. Is generally located on top of the pump.

Centrifugal pumps cannot pump air, so they must maintain prime. Prime is when the body of the pump and the pickup pipe is full of water. The loss of prime is generally caused by a leaking foot valve.
Tank used to store water under pressure. Can be from the size of a football top the size of a 200-litre drum. Popular belief that the pressure in this affects the pressure that the pump will make. Has no such effect.
