Worm Farms

You can find information on worm farms under this Yellow Pages® heading.  A worm farm, quite simply, is an organisation of worms within a contained environment.  This can be used for literally endless purposes, such as pets, vermicomposting, fertilising soil, etc.  Worm farms are most commonly a container that is filled with dirt, as well as several types of worms.  This helps to provide the feel of a natural environment for the worm, thus allowing them to reproduce and fertilise soil as they are supposed to.

Worm farms are common to young children as a type of ‘pet’, though this is very dissimilar to that of a dog or cat.  Worm farms might be covered and placed on display in a child’s room, etc.  This is typically inside of a container that has a closed but vented lid, thus allowing the worms to properly maintain an oxygen supply.  The containers are usually made of a see-through material such as plastic or glass.  Worm farms can also be in an environment such as an outside box, which is placed on the ground, but not covered.  This would be more commonly used for fertilisation purposes, which are described below.
