With Sentricon a colony elimination can be confirmed as little as 4 to 5 months, but may take longer depending on a wide number of variables. The countdown to colony elimination starts when feeding begins & the influencing factors include: the termite species, the size, health and age of the colony & the distance to the nest. The climate &/or season which affects moulting, feeding patterns, & the extent of foraging. Generally, colony elimination is more rapid during summer than winter.
It is highly likely they are next door! There are many conducive conditions, which attract termites, like the type of building construction, if there has been previous termite infestation, moisture around the building, ventilation & plants/trees close to the building. All contribute to an increased risk of termite infestation.
No scientific analysis exists and even technicians with many years' experience cannot determine how old termite evidence is. Therefore, all evidence considered potentially 'active'. Abandoned tunnels can be inhabited by another colony at any time meaning, the property will again come under attack.
This is a job for a qualified builder. Any termite evidence means potential for concealed damage & a builder must be engaged immediately to determine the extent of that damage & the structural integrity of the building. Please make sure the builder knows the property is being treated for termite infestation.
