The most common reason is heavy use, chlorine is used up faster and things like organic matter, body oils and sunscreens aren’t filtered out quick enough. Another reason is poor water balance, maintaining ‘ideal’ chemical levels with regular water tests and balancing is the easiest way to keep water clear. Systems such as Mineral Swim use Magnesium instead of Salt to chlorinate the water, it is a natural clarifier and the system uses a glass filter media to filter the water much more finely.
A mineral pool uses minerals (predominantly Magnesium) instead of the more common Salt to chlorinate the pool water, this system is usually paired with an Ozone system which charge positive minerals to kill organic matter such as bacteria and algae. With a super fine glass media in the filter, these combine to keep pool water crystal clear with low chlorine, perfect for people with sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis as well as asthma. Similar systems are commonly used in therapy pools.
Automatic pool cleaners can range in price from $30 to $3000. There is always a pool cleaner that will suit your pool better than others and our trained staff can help find that cleaner. Suction Cleaners are the most common (think Kreepy Krauly) and work using the pool pump to move the water and suck up the debris, decent ones are usually between $450-$800. Robotic Cleaners are much more advanced and run independently of the filtration system, a quality cleaner starts from around $1,250.
