FAQs

  • Do you do payment plans?

Yes we have payment solutions for both New and Existing Patients. These payment solutions are interest free. Please call our front office staff for more information.

  • What is a root canal?

The treatment involves the removal of the nerve inside a tooth. When a root dies it needs to be removed from inside the tooth to treat infection and as preventative maintenance.

  • What are 'veneers'?

'Veneer' refers to a porcelain laminate veneer cemented to the lip-facing surface of a tooth that improves the shape, colour, and contours of the tooth. Veneers are usually done in pairs to maintain symmetry on the front teeth.

  • What is Bruxism?

Bruxism is excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth that is not part of normal chewing movements, most commonly evident during sleep when you have no conscious control over this action. This can lead to excessive wear on the teeth and may cause permanent damage to the jaw joints and teeth.

  • How do I know if my tooth is cracked?

Cracked teeth show a variety of symptoms, including erratic pain when chewing, possibly with release of biting pressure, or pain when your tooth is exposed to temperature extremes. In many cases, the pain may come and go, and your dentist may have difficulty locating which tooth is causing the discomfort.

  • What is a Crown?

A porcelain crowns cover and protect a damaged or weak tooth. Once your tooth has been prepared, one of our dentists will use the CEREC Machine to take a digital impression of your tooth and then create it. This means that you get your porcelain crown in one appointment!

  • What problems can arise from a missing tooth?

There are several problems that can arise from loss of functional teeth: 1. Compromised chewing efficiency 2. Supra-eruption of opposing teeth 3. Drifting of adjacent teeth into the space 4. Food accumulation between the teeth which have moved 5. Dental caries & periodontal disease in areas of food accumulation 6. Loss of equilibrium in the chewing mechanisms - lopsided chewing patterns 7. Loss of alveolar bone height in the extracted area.

  • Do you do braces?

Yes we do orthodontics at Kitchener Street Dental. At your first appointment with our Dentist we will be able to give you an indication of what orthodontic treatment we can offer you. If we cannot offer orthodontics to you we will refer you to a Specialist Orthodontist.

  • What age should I bring my children in for their first visit?

Around two years of age is a great age for children to visit the Dentist. We suggest that if a parent is comfortable with the dental environment that the children should watch mum or dad having a dental check up. At this time when mum or dad is finished the children can have a ride in the dental chair. As time progresses (every child is different) the Dentist might be able to do a check up and a clean.

  • What is a bridge?

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth anchored to the adjacent natural teeth.
