There could be a few things wrong including LSD is worn out or broken, broken axle might not be an LSD diff.
The most common cause is bearing failure.
This sound effect is caused by a faulty or worn out synchro ring clutch hub fault.
The clutch could need re-adjusting because of excessive free play, or it is worn out.
Your differential will create this noise change. A worn out bearing or bearings on the crown wheel, and passed it's used by date.
