FAQs
Modern vehicles require different service intervals than the older style vehicles due to the technology that has been introduced. This is due to the quality of oils, spark plugs, filters etc. All of our mechanical staff has extensive experience in all areas of modifications and mechanical servicing. Regular servicing helps to keep the vehicle in good working condition. While servicing, our mechanics will give the vehicle a good check over and identify any issues which might need attention!
4WDs are different to the everyday run around car. This is a fact! 4WDs are built differently, they are driven in different environments and also have different issues. Our staff is extremely experienced in 4WDs but also has many years of experience in working on your everyday car.
We had a phone call recently from a new customer, new to the coast, who had asked two different people (who didn't know each other), who to take his 4WD to, they both said Sunshine Coast 4WD Centre.

No, as our staff brings with them a wealth of knowledge in all makes & sizes of vehicles, we can look after all vehicles.
We have 5 tradesmen with many years of experience. We also have an apprentice who works alongside one of our mechanics learning the trade. We have a small turnover of staff and Brett & Dave have been with us for many years & Kev started in Oct 2013. Tim (our apprentice) joined us early 2011. Brett (Bluey) has also had his own 4WD business and had worked here for a previous owner. The experience our staff brings to Sunshine Coast 4WD is invaluable to this business.
You should have your vehicle serviced every 10,000kms. But if you are experiencing problems with your vehicle you should contact us right away. Regular servicing & maintenance prolong the life of the car. When a vehicle is serviced our mechanics give the car a thorough check over, identifying any issues which might be arising. This way, things can be repaired when they might be starting to "go downhill" rather than breaking entirely, and leaving you sitting on the side of the road.
We use Castrol oils for all our servicing. We have access to Castrol software which tells us exactly which type & how much oil is needed for each situation. For log book servicing, you should follow the manufacturer's suggestions in your logbook.
We have been servicing cars and 4WDs on the Sunshine Coast for over 32 years. This gives us the experience and you the satisfaction of knowing that your vehicle is safe with us. At SSC4WD, we are lucky to have mechanics who are well known on the coast as 4WD specialists. Our owners, Richard & Tim have owned the business since 1998 and had worked on 4WDs for years before buying the business.
Yes, we do and importantly we explain what we are going to do to the vehicle in plain English so you know exactly what is happening. We can give a handwritten quote out or email your quote out.
Suspension! We deal with the issue of suspension every day. People buy a new caravan and suddenly wonder what needs to be done to the 4WD to be able to tow the vehicle comfortably.
First and foremost, make sure your servicing is up to date. During the service, our mechanics will give the vehicle a good check over and identify any issues which might need attention. Nothing worse than getting 100kms from home and you are sitting on the side of the road with a breakdown! Prevention is the key.
