Soil that conducts heat well is beneficial for buried cables. In turn, buried cables provide benefits such as unobstructed views and less potential for weather or traffic accidents to cut your building’s power. In addition, good heat-conducting soil helps you save on construction time, money and effort.
Soil thermal resistivity testing is important to ensure that the soil beneath your building is capable of handling large amounts of electrical heat. If the soil is not capable, this could lead to damaged cables, dry soil and even unstable ground. When you hire Civil Quality Assurance, we will sample the soil. We can also provide a thermal backfill for transferring heat from loaded cables.
