So you're thinking of getting married?

The act of getting married is perhaps the greatest leap of faith that anyone undertakes in their lifetime.

There you are, two individuals, publicly declaring  before your friends and family your love for each other, that you hope will last and grow for a lifetime.

No amount of careful planning or large  sums of money spent on visual perfection  will replace true dedication to each other in your hearts.

It is your most special day as a couple and can be made memorable whatever your budget.

Some points to consider

Have you left enough time to lodge your papers?

Do you have all the documents you will need?

Will your location require permission and a fee?

If you are planning an overseas wedding, check with the registry office about what happens.

If having a beach wedding, check on the tide times.

Always have an alternative venue in mind in case of bad weather.

Make sure you always have the spelling of your witness name correct.

FAQs

  • How far in advance do I need notify you to get married?

You must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form at least one month, and no more than 18 months, before the date on which you wish to get married.

  • Do we need witness at our wedding?

Yes. You must have two witnesses attend your wedding ceremony, to witness the ceremony and sign the marriage certificates. If you are unable to provide witnesses, i will be able to provide them for you.

  • Do I get any documentation for show for my marriage?

Yes, you will receive a certificate known as the 'party certificate'. This certificate is for your own records. This certificate cannot be used as proof of marriage for official purposes. If you want official documentation, you will need to apply for a standard marriage certificate. You may apply at http://www.bdm.vic.gov.au/

  • How much do you charge for your services?

For pricing, please call me on 0411 634 420

  • How do I choose a celebrant?

Look for the sort of person who has the qualities that attract you in friendship because this is probably the celebrant who will give you the ceremony that will leave you with happy memories.

  • Can I use photo copies and certified copies of my legal documents?

No. All documents must be originals

  • What is the difference between a wedding ceremony delivered by a marriage celebrant and a religious ceremony?

The most important thing is flexibility. You can get married anywhere you want and have the wedding ceremony absolutely tailored to you as a couple. It is also more personal unless you know your religious leader extremely well.

  • Can we have recorded music for our ceremony? and how do I play it?

As part of my services, I am able to provide a PA system and also chairs and tables for the signing of documents.
