Yes, we do. We ensure that the structure meets the BCA requirements for strength before we issue a certificate 15s in Queensland. Domestic steel framing is covered by Australian Standards AS4600 and AS4000. We use software developed by the University of Sydney (PRFELB, PURLIN, and THIN) to check structures built using cold-formed steel. The thicknesses of the steel used in these sort of structures usually vary from 0.42 to 3.0 mm. There is ongoing research being carried out by Sydney University.
WLL certification of lifting and spreader beams is one of the services we provide. Lifting and spreader beams are covered by Australian Standard AS4991.
Some storage, lifting and hauling equipment may have to be certified by a qualified engineer by legislation. There are other equipment where WLL certification by a qualified engineer is not mandatory. However, the onus is on the company using these equipment to ensure the safety of the equipment. If unsure, it is recommended that the equipment is checked and certified by a qualified engineer.
