Yes. I am a registered psychologist and I am also a clinical psychologist. I have been a member of the Clinical Board and the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society for over thirty years.
I do use hypnotherapy. This intervention can target a variety of issues such overeating and weight loss, smoking cessation, self-esteem and confidence, pain reduction, depression and anxiety and motivation enhancement.
I often use EMDR. Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing treatment (EMDR) is a powerful, quick and often effective technique which helps desensitise trauma. EMDR can remove the distress from traumatic and upsetting experiences. It can be a very effective treatment for PTSD; as well as for other upsetting events such as panic attacks, complicated grief, disturbing memories, phobias, pain, performance anxiety, stress reduction, addictions, sexual or physical abuse.
I treat panic attacks with a combination of psychoeducation, cognitive behaviour therapy, EMDR and hypnotherapy. I have also developed a paradoxical intervention which can block panic symptoms.
I do relationship counselling, assisting people in exploring their negative relationship interactional cycles. I then devise a behavioural circuit-breaker which may prevent the self-perpetuating negative interaction from continuing, so that a more positive interaction can take its place. I often prescribe "homework" in order to further reinforce positive relationship changes.
I treat depression with psychoeducation and with cognitive behaviour therapy. I will encourage daily exercise, and I often treat depression further with hypnotherapy.
I can assist parents in learning how to better manage their children's behaviour by using positive reinforcement techniques.
Yes, I do mindfulness training, relaxation training and stress management using a variety of cognitive behavioural techniques. I also use visualisation training to help learn new techniques to stay grounded, or to manage emotions better, using affect management skills training. Hypnotherapy can also further help to reduce stress.
