Established in 1997, AirSpeed Aviation is a leading flight school, providing top-tier training for Recreational, Private, and Commercial Pilot Licences. With a full-time training centre located in Scone, we have proudly trained hundreds of aspiring pilots. Our highly experienced instructors who are also multi-engine air charter pilots deliver real-world flying knowledge and skills to our students. We offer a 30-minute Trial Instruction Flight (TIF) for anyone curious about aviation, allowing potential students to experience the excitement of flying firsthand.
Our training programs cater to a range of aviation goals, from recreational flying to advanced commercial airline training. Students pursuing a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) begin with basic training for the Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL), followed by cross-country navigation exercises in preparation for the PPL flight test. We provide modern aircraft for training, including the Grob G115 and the Cessna C182 Skylane for navigation practice. We also offer the flexibility for students to train in their own aircraft at no additional cost, ensuring a personalised learning experience.
For those aiming for a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), AirSpeed Aviation offers a comprehensive 200-hour training course that follows CASA’s rigorous syllabus. Students typically require between 180-200 hours of flight time to reach the standards needed for the CPL flight test. With a focus on high-quality instruction and individualised attention, we prepare students for a successful career in aviation, offering specialised training in aerobatics, multi-engine aircraft, night flying, and more.

Completing the PPL usually takes 40-50 flight hours, including 10 hours solo and 2 hours of instrument flying, depending on individual progress.
The 30-minute Trial Instruction Flight (TIF) gives potential students an introduction to flying, offering a hands-on experience with a qualified instructor.
We primarily use the Grob G115 for basic training and the Cessna C182 Skylane for navigation exercises. Students can also use their own aircraft.
You must be at least 15 to fly solo, 16 to attempt the RPL, and 17 to hold a PPL. Also, A CASA Class 2 Medical is required.
The CPL course costs approximately $83,875 (ex GST), including 200 flight hours. Hourly flight training starts at $370. Additional fees for exams may apply.
