FAQs

  • Does acupuncture hurt?

Generally no. Occasionally some points may have a quick “bite” which quickly subsides. We try to be as painless as possible.

  • Are needles reusable?

No. We use single-use sterilised needles. Fresh for each patient and binned in a sharps/biohazard container when a treatment is complete. This container is then removed by a waste management company and destroyed, once full.

  • Is there an age restriction for treatment?

No. To date, my youngest patient was 3 days old and my oldest 94 years young.

  • Do you needle children?

This depends on the child. Some children are happy to be needled, others not so. This will also vary with each visit. The therapist will gauge what the child is comfortable with. We have non-invasive options such as massage or Japanese Shonishin techniques that we can use which can make your child more comfortable.

  • What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine family. It has evolved over more than 5000 years. Originally, acupuncture was done using shards of rock (ouch). These days we use very fine surgical steel needles inserted into particular points in the body to manipulate Qi (like energy) to restore balance. When the body is balanced, it is generally healthy.

  • Where are you located?

You will find us in the Focal Point Arcade on Monaro Street in Queanbeyan. Best parking is found in the Morisset street carpark. Best of all, parking is free!

  • I’m afraid of needles. Can you still treat me?

Yes. We have a range of treatment techniques that are needle-free such as TENs stimulation, acupressure, massage, Shonishin and cupping.

  • How many treatments will I need?

As each patient has tailored treatment, it is a difficult question to answer. Some people many only need 1 or 2 treatments whilst others may need ongoing care for some time. Acute conditions usually respond quicker to treatment. Something that has been bothering you for more than 3 months may take longer to heal. This is best discussed with your acupuncturist who will be able to give you a more accurate estimate in regards to your needs and goals.

  • What if I have more questions?

Drop us an email or give us a call and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.
