Panania is a suburb in the state of New South Wales and is situated 23 kilometres inner south-west of Sydney’s central business district. It shares its postcode with East Hills and Picnic Point and has a population of around 11,400.

History

The area of Panania was once known as the East Hills district. It got the name Panania from the list of stations that were put forward for the Tempe-East Hills railway line in 1929.

Development of the suburb began after World War II. It was the Australian Legion of ex-servicemen and women who sponsored the build of 34 houses, which began in 1946.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Panania is a friendly suburb with a good shopping centre. Anderson Avenue features a public library and senior citizens centre. The town also has the Panania Hotel, which is near the railway station.
