Welcome to Manly Vale, NSW
Manly Vale is a northern suburb of Sydney. It is 17 kilometres north-east of the Sydney CBD. It has a population of over 5,000.
History
The area was once home to the Kay-ye-my people of the Ku-ring-gai tribe. The name ‘Manly Vale’ stems from neighbouring suburb Manly. Manly was named by Captain Arthur Phillip for its indigenous people. Phillip said “their confidence and manly behaviour ” inspired the name.
Manly Vale Post Office opened on 3 April 1950.
Manly Warringah War Memorial Park houses an ‘Avenue of Honour’. Endemic native trees and shrubs were planted along it by the local community. This pays tribute to the service of Merchant Seamen in World War I and World War II. It is a project of the Save Manly Dam Catchment Committee. A related stone memorial has been placed in King Reserve.

Manly Vale is predominantly residential. There are also many Retirement Villages and Aged Care facilities.
There are small areas of commercial land use. These areas include small patches used for light industrial activity.
Manly Vale has many recreational facilities. These include parks such as Passmore Reserve. There are also sporting fields like Millers Reserve and David Thomas Reserve. Manly Dam is on the western edge of Manly Vale.
