About Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre

AT A GLANCE
  • Qualified exercise physiologist
  • Friendly environment
  • Highly professional team
  • Individualised, time-efficient and effective
  • Excellent service
We are reliable physiotherapists who can provide individualised physiotherapy services in Gosford & surrounding areas.
Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre being part of the "Hills Street Group" was founded by Sports Physiotherapists Peter Buffon & Denny Shearwood back in 1984, as a result of the then growing Central Coast's involvement & participation in sport, & the emerging community awareness of sporting injuries (which was very much regarded as rural rather than urban when compared to Sydney).

Established in 1982, Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre is a longstanding physiotherapy practice in Gosford. We have a fully functional, multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art sports medicine facility that is also the largest one in NSW. We are affiliated with several health funds, health equipment suppliers, government programmes, etc. We are also members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and are partnered with several local sports teams, providing them with constant support.

Our comprehensive services include effective and detailed diagnoses, thorough assessments, and evidence-based treatment. We can treat a huge range of injuries and conditions, like lower back pain, neck pain & headaches, shoulder pain & instability, hip pain, muscle strains, ligament sprains, osteoarthritis, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, falls risk, poor balance, and all other kinds of sporting and work-related injuries. We offer physiotherapy, exercise physiology, clinical psychology, orthopaedic consultations, online consultations, and guidance with healthcare products.

We are a multidisciplinary team, and this enables us to work collaboratively and treat all kinds of simple and complicated issues. Furthermore, we have a functional rehabilitation centre with a well-equipped gym that has all the specialised equipment that facilitates rehabilitation for all kinds of injuries. We can also help with neurological and cardiorespiratory issues, in addition to several other health issues.

FAQs

  • Do I need a referral to visit you?

Normally, you do not need a referral. However, if you are on workers’ compensation, are a third party, or a veteran, a referral from your doctor is required. Also, if you are claiming a rebate from Medicare, a care plan along with a referral letter is required from your doctor.

  • How do I confirm if my injury needs physiotherapy?

Call us and speak to one of the physiotherapists to ascertain what your injury type is and which specialist you need to see.

  • What are your business hours?

We are available from 07:30 am to 07:00 pm from Monday to Friday and 8:00am - 6:00pmand from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm on Saturdays.

  • How do I book in for physiotherapy?

Simply call one of our friendly reception staff on (02) 4322 5858 and they can arrange a time that suits. Your initial assessment and treatment session will usually take a little over an hour. Please note that bookings cannot be made via fax or email.

  • Is physiotherapy covered under Medicare or through my Private Health Fund?

In most occasions physiotherapy is covered under your private health cover, under the extras bracket. How much you are covered for is dependent on your health fund and your level of cover. If you have a HICAPS card you can swipe this at the time of payment and simply pay the gap (amount not covered by your fund). On occasions physiotherapy can be covered under Medicare through the EPS scheme. This will cover you for up to 5 treatment sessions per year.

  • Is Exercise Physiology covered under my Health Fund?

These days it is becoming common practise for health funds to cover exercise physiology. This will vary significantly with both the fund you are in and your level of cover. Unfortunately we are unable to swipe your HICAPs card, thus payment must be made at the time of the session, then claimed back afterwards. It is highly recommended that you call your health fund to enquire about your cover for exercise physiology.

  • Where is Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre?

Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre can be found on the corner of Hills St and Bean St. It carries the address of 1 Hills St Gosford, 2250 and parking is available off Bean St. It is only a short walk from Gosford Station (approx. 300m), thus catching public transport is not an issue. For more detailed instructions please ask our reception staff who will be happily able to assist.

  • How much physiotherapy will I require?

This varies considerably on a case-by-case basis and is something that should be discussed with your physiotherapist. In some instances, it may simply be a matter of an assessment and some simple treatment and advice. In other cases, a longer and more thorough course of treatment is required.

  • I am not sure if my injury is appropriate for physiotherapy?

If you are unsure if your injury is appropriate for physiotherapy, please call our reception staff and ask to speak to one of the physiotherapists. If the physiotherapist feels that another course of action is necessary, such as referral to an orthopaedic surgeon, then they may be able to assist in making arrangements.

  • How do I make an appointment with one of the orthopaedic surgeons that consult at Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre?

All appointments for orthopaedic consultation are taken by their own reception staff. Please contact our reception staff at Hills Street Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre and they can give you the appropriate phone number required. Please note that a referral from your GP is required.
