We will give a firm written quote. You will need to give us as much information as possible, we will ask all the right questions. Most of the time we will do an on site survey, that way nothing is overlooked.
We carry Cargo Transit Insurance, which cover the Cargo and the Truck from outside influences - this is standard. For All risks/comprehensive cover it is your choice to contact your Home Contents Insurer and make arrangements for cover whilst in transit.
Every piece of furniture is wrapped in big thick pads and securely placed in the truck. The men load the truck tightly so there is no spaces for unnecessary movement. They also Dismantle your beds and any other pieces that would be unsteady in transport ( & put them back together after unloading).
2 answers for this - 1/ if you want to pack yourself, we can supply boxes, paper and tape at a reasonable rate along with ‘how to’ instructions. 2/ We offer a Packing service at a flat rate to either pack the whole house or just the kitchen & breakables. This is done the day before the move.
As much notice as possible, especially if you have a specific settlement date. In peak times (November to February) 3 - 4 weeks would be great. Other wise at least 2 weeks.
No. The men will do a “walk through” so they know where things are and they will pick & choose as they load. Don’t clog up doors or hallways as this hampers movement.
A few things to make it easier - *Empty & turn off the fridge & freezer the night before to defrost. If it is an older fridge with a water collector, soak the water up with a towel.*Don’t water plants, let them drain - in hot weather just spray the leaves (this keeps them going for up to a week) *Take the linen and electric blankets etc. off the beds and pack.*Do not leave things in cupboards, units or wardrobes (sometimes for local moves it is ok to leave clothes in drawers etc.).
The packing team comes in the day before the move. Firstly - anything you don’t want us to pack should be put into one area (bathroom is good). We will ask if it is OK to use your linen to layer in the boxes and then we will put everything in boxes room by room. Hanging clothes go into our Porta-robes, TV’s in special boxes and paintings into picture packs.
Flammables, Acids, Corrosives, Fuels, Gas, Paint, Matches & igniters, Fire Arms & ammunition - all these things void our insurance. Mowers etc. must be emptied of fuel.
The men will unload the truck and put all the furniture and boxes into the rooms you want. We will empty the Porta-robes into your wardrobes, TV and picture boxes (we take these back with us). Once everything is unloaded, we will then put your beds back together and any thing else we had to dismantle for transportation.
