FAQs
At Synergy, we view poor health as the result of physical, nutritional and emotional deterioration. Our treatment programs emphasise the need to help patients move better, eat better and think differently. We teach you how to take greater control of your health, through home-based exercises; by challenging many of the false and harmful preconceptions about good food versus bad food; and by educating patients on how they can best help themselves. We will help you avoid long term, costly therapy.

Yes. While risk of injury exists in any type of therapy, chiropractic has shown itself time and again in many government inquiries around the world to be a safe and effective treatment strategy. Chiropractors are highly qualified, licensed and registered health professionals with full legal recognition and a requirement to maintain high ongoing educational and professional standards. Chiropractors are well integrated into the Australian health care system.
Our qualifications, our level of service and our integrity.Dr. Allan Kalamir is one of very few PhD level chiropractors in Australia. He is a recognised specialist in myofascial therapy of the jaw and works closely with dentists and medical doctors. At this clinic, you will not wait for hours only to have a 30 second session, then get hustled to keep coming week after week. We have a reputation for fixing problems others can't, and for helping you to minimise the need for future treatment.
No joint should ever be manipulated when it is inflamed. However, sometimes there may be muscle spasms and nerve pressure that needs to be released. This might involve some deep tissue massage that can be a bit sore temporarily. However a chiropractic adjustment should always be comfortable. There are many different types of adjustments- when someone is in a great deal of pain, or when dealing with kids or the elderly there are many gentle, non-manipulative techniques that are very effective.
Yes. Children fall and bump themselves frequently, they are often born through the use of forceps or other potentially stressful means. The diets of many children today are full of allergens, irritants and processed chemicals that affect their development and growth. Chiropractic can help screen for some of the effects of these events on their spine and joints, to help them achieve better growth and balance. Chiropractors have been safely treating children for over 150 years.
Chiropractic is all about removing interference to the nerves of the body. Most problems can be stabilised within a month or two and all patients at this clinic are given many self-care strategies to maximise the speed and strength of their recovery. However, no chiropractor can FIX arthritis, or stop the damaging effects of your diet, work or lifestyle. That's why many people choose to have occasional maintenance care. We never hustle people to keep coming. You are in control.
No. Chiropractors are primary health care practitioners. You can call-in any time and book an appointment with a chiropractor. However, at this clinic we also work closely with many local medical doctors and dentists who refer patients for treatment. These doctors trust us to take care of their more difficult cases. Dr. Allan has helped many back pain sufferers avoid the need for back surgery.
No. While both professions have some similar manual therapy techniques, chiropractors are specialists in the detection and manipulation of spinal misalignments. Chiropractors are doctors, physio's are therapists. A chiropractic doctor examines and treats you holistically, using adjustments, posture training, diet, self-care exercise and stress awareness, while physio's emphasise rehabilitation of injuries. Chiropractors also emphasise prevention much more than cure.
Yes. We have electronic on-the-spot processing of health fund rebates through the HICAPS system. Most major health funds are accepted. Please check with your fund if you are unsure of their inclusion on the HICAPS system. Gaps can be paid via cash, EFTPOS, VISA or MASTERCARD.
