If you are still missing one or more of your payment summaries, don't stress your head; simply contact that employer to see if you can get another one. If that doesn't work then call the tax office on 13 2861 to find out what to do. Don't forget to keep and include all your payment summaries even if you've only worked in a job for a couple of weeks.
Ok so you forgot to keep your receipts or perhaps you didn't realize you needed to keep them no worries. That's ok for some situations as sometimes receipts aren't needed or aren't needed up to a certain amount. Just start keeping them from now on but for this year's tax return, just check with your I.T.P. consultant to see what you can claim without those elusive receipts.
You just bought the latest Macbook Pro or whatever the cool kids use these days - can you claim it? If you buy a computer to use in your work or business, you can generally claim a percentage of the depreciation that pertains to your work or business use. So if you use it for work then you can claim part of the cost of your computer back. The depreciation allowed will depend on the expected life of the computer or how long it is expected to be current.
So you need to do a few years of tax returns in a row that's not a problem with us! We can prepare and lodge all past year's returns in one go. Don't be daunted, you may be surprised at the estimated refund. The current year's refunds will be returned in the normal period but you may have to wait a bit with refunds coming from the ATO for previous year's returns and possibly not arriving together but they will arrive and at least you can rest easy that they are finally all done.
You certainly can! Hoorah! We simply deduct the little old fee from your ATO refund once it comes through and before it hits your bank account or your cheque is drawn up and sent. Too easy.
Some individuals don't have to lodge a tax return but it depends on your situation which can differ due to age, income and expenses. Your best bet is to come in and have a chat with an ITP professional to get their take on whether or not you need to lodge a return. No harm in asking.
Yes, indeed you do. You need to include dividends and any other interest earned on bank accounts, even if it's just a few dollars or if the bank account is now closed - you need to claim it and we will find it. Also if you've quoted your tax file number when opening a bank account then you need to declare that interest in your individual tax return, not in a partnership or trust tax return. It all happens at the individual level with interest.
What you need is a tax file number (TFN) which is required in order to work and be properly recognized for tax purposes in Australia. Picked up an application form from any branch of the ATO or at any of the over 240 I.T.P. offices around Australia.
You may receive a fine or interest penalty charge from the ATO if you lodge your return late so really try to be on time. Generally if you are entitled to a refund those penalties are minimal. I.T.P. has lodgement extension facilities that will help to minimise such charges. Contact your nearest I.T.P office to have them notify the ATO that you are now an I.T.P. client. Aah the perks of being an I.T.P. client.
We've got that covered with some of our overseas client tax experts. They help people just like you to sort out their Australian tax returns for this exact type of situation.
