About Beachside Radiology

Beachside Radiology is part of the "BR" Group, a group of progressive X-ray and Medical Imaging practices were established by Dr Mitchell, a veteran of providing provincial radiology care. The first practice was opened in Bundaberg in 2004 and continues to support both the immediate and surrounding communities. As the need for high quality service and excellent customer care became more and more apparent, Dr Mitchell has expanded to other locations and now has 6 established clinics.

More Comfort

Faster scanning leads to reduced time for patients on the examination table. The ability to reconstruct in multiple planes means we rarely need to place a patient in an unusual position. These changes, most importantly, ensure we're able to make an examination more comfortable than ever before at all of our clinics.

Nation Leading Vision

Beachside Radiology aims to develop the most comprehensive imaging network in Australia. Our vision is to use the internet to provide images & information to the people who need it without waiting. We aim to save you time by enabling bookings to be made over the internet any time of the day or night, from the doctors surgery or the comfort of their own home. We aim to reduce the inconvenience of losing films or leaving images at home by providing internet access to your films & reports any time.

FAQs

  • Can I bring a friend or a relative with me?

You are welcome to bring someone with you if you need moral support or assistance in anyway. More than one additional person in the examination room may cause crowding and prevent the technologist from doing their job properly, there may also be additional safety reasons why your support person cannot stay with you the entire time. Our aim however is to always make you as comfortable as possible.

  • Do you bulk bill?

We bulk bill all Medicare compliant outpatient procedures.

  • How do I make an appointment?

Please call us, or you can request an appointment online and we will call you to confirm the time.

  • How will I find out my results?

Usually your results will go back to whoever referred you for the appointment.

  • Is there a waiting list for appointments?

Many appointments can be made at very short notice. Sometimes due to demand for a particular piece of equipment or preparation requirements (such as fasting) we will have to give you an appointment at alternative time, but normally the wait is less than one day.

  • What happens to my images?

Using sophisticated software your images are safely archived as high resolution images on our system. They are able to be presented on CD or film for review by the referring doctor once the Radiologist has been able to complete their report on your image.

  • What is an ultrasound?

An ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to visualise structures within the body. A 3D scan is different from the standard 2D scanning mode as waves are bounced through in angles; the returning echoes are processed by a very sophisticated computer that reconstructs those images in to the 3D pictures you will see on the screen.

  • What is an X-ray?

X-radiation (composed of x-rays) was first discovered in 1895 by German scientist Wilhelm Roentgen. It is a form of electromagnetic radiation. An X-ray image is produced as some parts of the body, such as bones are not as transparent to X-rays as the surrounding soft tissue. It is the difference between the hard bone and the soft tissue that allow the image to be projected.

  • What should I bring?

Please bring your request form, any previous scans you may have had done and anything else you have been asked to bring with you at the time of booking your appointment.

  • Who should I contact if I have an issue?

If possible to do so please mention to the technologist at the time any issue you may have. If the issue has arisen since leaving the practice please call the practice and ask to speak to the supervisor who will be able to respond appropriately.
