FAQs

  • Do I need a licence to construct a dam in NSW?

Landholders in NSW are entitled to build and maintain dams up to a certain size without a licence. You will not require a licence for: 1) A harvestable right dam, 2) Dams built before 1999 used for stock or domestic purposes, 3) Dams up to one megalitre on small properties. The total capacity of all dams on a property is called the Maximum Harvestable Right Dam Capacity (MHRDC). If the amount of water captured by the dam exceeds your property's MHRDC you will require a licence.

  • What permits and approvals do I need for earthmoving and excavation work?

You may be required to acquire a development application (DA) before you begin work on your project. Other local council regulations also need to be considered to avoid any fines or penalties. Our team can help you seek information and approvals for your project.

  • Do you require a licence for demolition?

Since demolition can be potentially dangerous a licence is required. There are two types of licences: Demolition licence & Restricted demolition licence. Our team are fully licensed to conduct all work for you. We have a supervisor onsite to oversee the demolition and ensure the project maintains high safety standards.

  • Do I need council approval for demolition work?

Depending on the type of demolition, you may not require council consent. These exemptions are outlined in the NSW Exempt and Complying Development Codes SEPP. Any demolition work that falls outside of this code will require development approval. We recommend contacting your local council to discuss your demolition project to ensure you gather the correct approvals.

  • Do I need the approval to install a septic tank system?

To ensure that the new system meets all regulations and requirements you will need to obtain two approvals from your local council: System installation approval, System operating approval. Once you have these approvals the council will carry out regular inspections on your septic system.
