History

Barden Ridge was originally used by the Dharawal tribe before European settlers arrived. The town is named after the pioneer Alfred Barden. Barden arrived in Bangor in the 1850s. The name first referred to the ridge that the Lucas Heights suburb was found on, but the meaning now encompasses the town itself.
