When we were looking for someone to construct our front door and surrounds, I was concerned about the single negative review posted here. Having spoken to Teal and satisfying myself that they are professionals, we went ahead and engaged them. I’m happy to report now that not only are they professional, they are absolute master craftsmen and truly excellent service providers. My experience could not be more different to what the earlier negative reviewer posted - something is clearly amiss there. When looking for trades and craftspeople we had three criteria. Let me detail how Teal absolutely nailed all of these for us. 1. Workmanship Dion and team built us an absolutely beautiful door. The house is designed in a mid-century minimalist style and they totally got where we were coming from. There’s no visible frame on the door itself and no obvious fixings for the paneling (they are all hidden) - it is impossible to see how it all fits seamlessly together. The wood is beautiful, the width of all the panels is perfect, the stain spot on, the fittings tie in with other black elements on the house. All of these things were discussed in detail and Teal got it right first go. They worked closely with our builder so everything keyed in perfectly. From ensuring that expansion tolerances between concrete, glass and wood were all considered to shaving the doorstep accurately to ensure that one side met the decking boards and the other reduced rain egress – they were detail oriented. They measured and checked, double checked with us on the phone, liaised with our builder - in short, did absolutely everything to ensure a perfect job. On installation day, they delivered the door and it and slotted in perfectly without the builder having to make adjustments. Teal also built an internal sliding door for us. Same story… everything was perfect. 2. Service We’re on the Far North Coast and Teal staff came from Grafton to meet with us and take measurements etc. They were quoting repairs on some of their doors at another house in the area. This is an important digression. The repair was needed because some folks we know were renting the house and their new puppy chewed the door frames. This could have been a really difficult situation between tenants and landlord etc. Teal to the rescue - they quoted less than the tenants expected to repair and reassemble the door. Everyone was happy and that’s how they were recommended to us. More evidence of Teal’s fantastic approach; One of their staff had a temporary and unexpected health issue midway through our job. Dion took up the slack with no disruption to progress. He talked through everything with and communicated that there might be slight delay, and then delivered above expectations with no delay! For some perspective, we had another group (not Teal) build our commercial aluminium sliding doors and it was a debacle from start to finish: doors scratched in transit because they weren’t tied down properly, dodgy powdercoating that had to be redone, modifications after delivery because they measured incorrectly etc. So we know what it’s like when you don’t get good service. We didn’t have single problem with Teal. All of the folks we dealt with were lovely. They listened, conveyed expert advice, made clear promises and then delivered upon those promises. 3. Price Teal came back pleasantly less than the other providers we were considering. On delivery, they came in on budget. There were a couple of points where we splurged on nicer hardware (doorhandles etc.) and Teal priced those items openly without applying big markups. They also helped us stay on budget by letting us know every time if we were asking for something that might be a little more expensive. Even so, we came in tight on budget. To summarise, these guys are fantastic. We would not hesitate to engage them again. Our builder has added them to the top of his list of door suppliers too. Highly recommended!
