Why you might see a speech pathologist
Speech pathology involves working with people who have trouble communicating. You might see a speech therapist if you have speech and language problems including:
- Problems being understood by other people,
- Problems understanding what other people are saying,
- Frustration due to not being able to say what you want,
- A husky voice that’s hard to hear, and
- Stuttering.
Your child might also see a speech language pathologist if he/she:
- Needs help with feeding – for example, if your baby has a cleft and lip palate,
- Has problems swallowing,
