How does a quarry supply the construction materials you need?

Have you ever wondered how a sand, rock or an allstone quarry produces and delivers the construction materials we use for building our homes? Well, here’s how a quarry company do it.

  • They plan thoroughly and thoughtfully. Stone, gravel and sand are naturally occurring materials and the placement of a rock or sand quarry depends on the local geology. The most efficient route is also considered for low-cost transport. Extensive planning and activities are carried out first to make sure that the quarry will have the least impact possible to the environment and the community. Necessary permits are required for operation, and stringent operational and environmental regulations must be observed.
  • The quarry process starts by blasting off large rocks from the quarry walls through a safe and controlled method. The rocks are then loaded to the trucks and delivered to the primary crushers.
  • The primary crushers reduce the size of the large chunks of rocks to a manageable sizes. The materials are then delivered via a conveyor belt to the secondary crushers.
  • A secondary crusher reduces the material size further and is then sorted and screened to ensure an aggregate with the right size, shape and purity.
  • Last, the aggregates are stockpiled and are transported by batch to the plants and sites where they are needed.

A quarry near you could readily answer your questions about their specific processes and the materials available to them. Browse our listings of local quarries and ask them for a delivery possibility to your site!
