He has a special interest in difficult and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. He also specialises in arthroscopic knee surgery, including ACL reconstruction, and orthopaedic trauma surgery. Dr Mackenzie has undertaken training in orthopaedic surgery in Australia, the USA, Canada and England.

This culminated in his admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He went on to complete subspecialty Hip and Knee fellowships in Sydney with Dr’s Michael Solomon and David Broe and in Paris at the Clinique du Sport with Dr Frederic Laude.
