Plastic manufacturers employ a number of different techniques to meet specific customer needs. Plastic moulding professionals must be able to interpret complex blueprints and create the finished product. So, how do they get it done?
Plastics are extremely versatile materials, capable of being moulded and shaped in many different ways. There are many factors that go into plastic fabrication, and typical manufacturing processes take into account the geometry, tolerances, quantity and material characteristics.
Typical processes involve cutting and drilling with mills and gun drills, thermoforming and moulding as well as assembly. There is also plastic injection moulding, which involves squeezing plastic into a mould and then removing the part when it has been cooled. Hollow products can be created using rotational moulding.
