When should you replaster walls and ceilings?
Generally, plasterwork should last indefinitely. If you notice some of the following signs, look to get a plastering contractor to repair or replace your plaster.
You have a plasterboard. Unlike traditional plaster, it is not breathable, which may cause damage in the structure of old buildings. For period homes, plasterboards are flat and can look out of place in period homes.
Cracking, flaking or crumbling of plaster. Make a booking with a plastering service to see if you need to replaster your whole wall or ceiling (or if repairs are possible).
Mechanical damage and broken off areas of the plaster. Here replacement is often the only option. Find a reputable plastering company that can get the job done!
