When should you replaster walls and ceilings?

Generally, plasterwork should last indefinitely. However, after settling, the finishing plaster is very rigid, and can’t accommodate changes to the earth. Take a look through these signs you may be in need of plaster repair services.

You have an aged home with plasterboards: Unlike traditional plaster, it is not breathable, which may cause damage to the structure of old buildings. For period homes, plasterboards are flat and often look out of place in period homes.
Cracking, flaking or crumbling of plaster: Plaster walls and ceilings often only have damage due to poor plastering or your house settles. If excessive cracking occurs, it might be time to check your foundations and stumping.
Mechanical damage and broken off areas of the plaster: There are natural weak points in the plaster such as near joints, studs, doors, and windows.
