Is patio construction or deck building better for my backyard?
A household would usually get a patio or deck as their outdoor flooring of choice. However, most people don’t know which is the one for them. Today, we’re going over some considerations when making that important decision.
- First things first, let's revisit the two options. A patio is a paved area adjoining the house. This can be covered or uncovered. A deck is a timber platform that is attached to the house.
- Being a platform makes decking superior if you live on a sloping block. It is much more cost effective to build the framing and lay slabs of wood on than to create a new flat surface of concrete for your paved area.
- Patios are solid and all weather, they are much more durable and rarely require maintenance. Decking needs to be oiled every year for peak results. Decks are usually not sealed, which may cause some weeding nightmares.
- Local outdoor patio builders usually also do patio roof building. If your outdoor concepts include roofing, then patio construction could be more cost effective. In general, both decking and patios are similarly priced and depend on design and material.
