Understanding the different types of nursing services

Nurses do a variety of tasks and roles which are important to our society. It can often be useful to consider what types of nursing services are out there before selecting the service that suits you best.

• General Nurses: These are nurses who conduct tasks such as wound dressing, providing medication and treatments by order of doctors or the individual’s health care provider. They take general care of the patient according to their needs as part of in-home nursing services or within a health clinic or institute.
• Midwifery Nurses: These nurses are capable of conducting general nursing duties but are also specialised in delivery and labor services. They can be hired from a private nursing agency for the convenience of your home or as part of a health clinic.

• Specialist nurses: These nurses are skilled in general duties but have a specialty in a certain field, such as mental health, children or learning disability nursing. They can work independently or part of a professional nursing agency or health clinic.
