Handy tips

When do you need a musical instrument repair service?

Owning a musical instrument is fun but you may need to take it to an instrument repair shop on a rare occasion, in case it needs fixing. Here are some common issues your instrument might encounter:

  • Tuning: Most players should be able to tune their own instruments. However, if your instrument is out of tune despite your tuning efforts, you may need to upgrade your tuners.
  • Loose screws: Often guitars end up with loose pickguards, strap buttons or any other screws. Especially, wood screws can come loose through vibrations, stripped holes and the expansion and contraction of wood over time.
  • Freezing fretboards: Your guitar or bass could be playing fine and then suddenly develop a slight buzz or high fret due to changes in temperature. Most stringed instruments require adjustments to the neck, bridge and frets during the colder months of the year.

While carrying out maintenance on your own is key to keeping your instrument working, don’t hesitate to visit an instrument store if the problem gets out of hand. Search our website for instrument repair and tuning shops near yo
