Bright Chalet

A group of us have stayed at Bright Chalet a few times now and have always been very happy with the accommodation and services they provide. Whilst you wont be staying on-mountain, Bright Chalet does a great job accommodating large groups and also offer excellent dinner and breakfast packages, with the addition of having their own in-house equipment hire so it can make life very easy. The premises are showing their age a little, but they are kept very clean and comfortable, and this is why weve kept going back. Definitely worth a try if youve missed out on/cant afford on-mountain accommodation at Falls or Hotham.

Handy tips

Need help in selecting a good motel?

While booking motels is an inexpensive and favourable option if you’re on a budget, it can be a little challenging to find one where you can get maximum bang for your buck. We’ve listed some pointers to help you choose a cheap motel with decent services.

Look for places with enough lighting so you can tell at a glance if the building is well maintained. An untidy exterior usually means bad rooms.

Check out vehicles in a prospective motel parking lot. Out-of-state license plates mixed with local state plates means a variety of travelers, which can be a sign that the motel is popular.

Observe the motel office. If the office looks and smells clean, the rooms are usually in good condition.

Request the motel reception to see a room and inspect the linens, bathroom and carpets. A motel with dirty bedsheets and pillow cases, rugs or bathroom should be ruled out.

These tips will help you find a motel near you instantly. Search our extensive listings to compare motels and pick the right one for you.

Motels - Common Questions

What is a motel?

A motel is a roadside hotel designed to provide accommodation for passing motorists.

What is the difference between a motel and a hotel?

Hotels typically provide lodging to tourists and may offer a wider range of services or amenities such as a restaurant, spa and/or swimming pool. Motels are primarily aimed at motorists who are traveling long distances and need a place to rest or sleep on the way to their destination. In short, hotels cater to tourists or business travellers whereas motels provide more basic accommodation to motorists.

How to find cheap motels?

Motels are reasonably priced in most cases. However, we recommend planning ahead of your trip to secure the best deals. Obtaining quotes from a few motels then making a booking usually ends up cheaper than booking a room upon arrival.

What motels allow dogs?

Not every motel allows dogs and other pets. We suggest calling the motel or checking their website to find out.

Do motels have WiFi?

While not always guaranteed, nowadays it is safe to assume that a motel will have WiFi. The motel may charge a fee for WiFi access.
