Before your first marriage counselling session, consider putting together a short list of questions to ask. We’ve gathered some questions to guide you in finding the right family and relationship counsellor for your needs:

Do they offer services on a sliding scale?
Have you worked with couples like us?
Which type of therapy do you practice?
Do you have other qualifications in mental health?
What can we expect from therapy?

Also consider thinking about some topics before you arrive: What are my main issues? Do I want a divorce? Is this a phase? Am I satisfied with the relationship? When did the problems start to get out of hand?
