If someone has been cheating on you for several years and continues to lie at Counselling and the Counsellor may not be aware of this it is unlikely that you will achieve a positive outcome - no matter what you do. It is suggested that if you’ve been cheated on that you demand: no secrecy, passwords to everything and total upfront honesty. When you have been cheated on long term you are irrational and unlikely to be able to think clearly. And have the ability to articulate what you need. It is at this time that you need a Counsellor who will not be on either side but help the “truth” come forth quickly. No amount of sessions will assist if one party continues to continually deceive and not tell the truth. It is important to note that the effects of a betrayal may leave you medically unable to cope with Counselling alone. Please don’t blame yourself nor accept any blame - at any time.
