Marriages by Marcia

Marcia officiated at our wedding at Ripponlea last month (23 Oct 22). We are so pleased she was recommended to us. Marcia is a wonderfully warm person with whom we immediately felt at home. She presented us with a folder of helpful information which included many options for suggested wording to use at each stage of the ceremony, which was a massive help to us. (You could of course opt to compose your own wording and vows but the suggestions and examples provided a wonderful basis) Marcia was thorough, ever helpful and was beautifully dressed for the occasion. She greatly contributed to our perfect day and I highly recommend her. Lynda and Lindsay

Handy tips

What does a marriage celebrant do (besides prompting couples to say I do)?

Your commitment ceremony marks a union bound by love and the love of friends, all encompassing. A wedding celebrant conducts formal wedding ceremonies to authorise a marriage legally.

In Australia, an “authorised celebrant” is a person who is authorised by the Australian Government to perform legal marriages according to the Marriage Act 1961. Many wedding officiants may represent a religious organisation. However, celebrants also provide secular and non-religious weddings.

Barristers mediate and resolve disputes before the Courts or behind closed doors. They work closely with solicitors to save clients from an unnecessary trial. A limited number of more senior barristers receive ‘silk’ and become Queen’s Counsel or Senior Counsel. These members are rewarded for eminence and seniority.
